Craft 60

What crafting is like for Venus (in the Philippines)

I have a very modest collection of scrapbooking supplies. My home is a rented  2-room apartment and the space is not enough for everything. I have two toddlers and I'm happy to say that I've trained them well not to touch "mommy's things", so I'm able to keep some in an open shelf while most of my things are in covered plastic bins and closed shelves.

This is how I organize and keep things dust-free. I am very fond of steel rule dies!

My working table at home is quite small but it's good enough for me. I have my die-cutting machines and printer, which I often use for making projects. I would assemble my scrapbook layouts on the dining table. I think a lot of crafters create beautiful things on their dining table.

I had some awesome time with friends during a scrapbooking and card class in February 2013. I brought all of my die cutting tools and paper collection for the participants to use. It was my first class. Then I had a second class in May 2013, where I taught new scrapbooking techniques like misting, using stencils and texture pastes, and layering with die-cut backgrounds. (see photos) I managed the classes single handedly from preparing the kits, to planning and conducting the class. It was not an easy task but at the end of the day, it gave me so much joy seeing the participants enjoy every part of the process and take pride in showing off their work. I would love to conduct a class again one day.

In 2014, I  decided to open a crafting studio downtown because I wanted to open a shop for making handmade invitations and party accessories. (please see before and after photo)  The crafting space layout was inspired by the cover photo of Creative Spaces. When I saw the pink chandelier in a lighting store, I never let it go.

I once asked myself how can I use my scrapbooking supplies and tools and get a return of investment? We all know the price tags that came with every item, right ? LOL. That's how the idea of a crafting studio came in. I am proud to say that I'm now making a living out of crafting and that I'm able to provide work for two ladies. Rolling a hundred paper roses and pouring embossing powders over a hundred cards is pretty normal now.  Please visit my blog INKPRESSIVE INVITATIONS and Crafts and take a look...
